It is so easy to look back on life and think about all the things you could have done (better, faster or just done period.) Asking yourself, “What is my purpose?” TODAY I urge you to look back at things with a different perspective. I want you to look back and see your life through God’s eyes. See all the good. See all the small victories and accomplishments and CELEBRATE them! Don’t get caught up in the “what ifs” and the “should haves.” That will only weigh you down.
I posted on Instagram today, about living with purpose. So I ask you today, “What is your purpose?” and “Are you living your purpose, on purpose?” I feel like people spend so many years just trying to figure out what their purpose is, that they forget to actually LIVE their purpose. People always seem to be “searching” in all the wrong places. They take time off work/school/life to; “find themselves.” Travel around the world. Read self help books. They ask people. Take classes….(you get the picture) and all they really need to do is ask the One who gave you life.
“Continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way.” {Job 42:2}
Perhaps you are a mother. Your days are long and full of laundry, making lunches, cleaning up messes…But you start and end your day with prayer. You are praying diligently for your husband and children. That my friend, is your purpose. Maybe you are a woman who longs to be married. You keep yourself busy by volunteering at various groups and outreaches. You mentor young women, you pray for not only yourself but those you come in contact with through your different activities each day. That is your purpose. To pray for those who might not be praying for themselves.
Your purpose doesn’t have to be “big” in terms of numbers; money, social media followers or friends for your purpose to be big. Your purpose can be big and meaningful just because you are living it, and living it for His glory! Find comfort in knowing that your purpose, is yours. And you my friend, were created just for that purpose.
If you want to dig deeper into finding and living your purpose, start off with prayer. Ask God to revel His purpose for you. Rest in the fact that we ALL were created WITH a purpose, FOR a purpose! Fight the urge to let yourself dwell on the set backs and let downs you have faced. Don’t compare your life to anyone else’s because we all were made for a different purpose. And when you find something that you feel is your purpose, don’t let the enemy steal your joy! And you can bet he will try to! You were created with different talents and abilities than anyone else. Don’t let yourself get caught up in the comparison game. Just because someone is the same age as you or lives in the same town or has similar interests, doesn’t mean your life and your purpose will look the same as hers.
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21
I pray this is a blessing to you and that you find and live your purpose for The Lord!
