Happily Ever After….The best ending to a book or movie in my opinion but is Happily Ever After really how they portray it?….Imagine for a minute that everything in your life was “perfect.” What are you imagining? Money? New car? More toned body? Baby that sleeps through the night? Were you thinking about any of these? Maybe all of them? Now let me ask you this; when I asked you to imagine a “perfect life” did you imagine having a stronger, more meaningful relationship with God? Truth be told, most of us probably don’t think of that at first when we stomp our feet and whine about our daily struggles and how life isn’t “fair.” We sit and think about how our life isn’t the way we had always dreamed of and imagined but perhaps, this is the moment for which you were created. {Esther 4:14} Perhaps this very life you are living is exactly what God wants for you.
So, what if the FIRST thing we thought about when we imagined a “perfect life” was a deeper relationship with Christ? Now don’t get me wrong. I am not saying life is going to be perfect even if you had the strongest most Christ centered life. But you would be able to see how your life is in fact actually “perfect” because it is NOT perfect. Read that sentence again if you aren’t following along. ;) Life will never be sunny days and unicorns 365 days a year. But if you are living in Christ according to His will He will make everything in your life work out for GOOD! If you let Him, He will take your mess and turn it into a message! He will take your trials and turn them into triumph! He will turn your test into a testimony!

Life in general is hard. Throw being a woman and mother in the mix and well, you get crazy town. There are times that I am so emotionally drained that by the end of the day, I don’t even have the energy to crawl into bed. Then there are days that end and we look back upon them and think “that was a really good day.” Why was it good? Was it because things went as planned and the kids behaved well. Your errands got ran, dinner was on the table, laundry was folded and put away….ok that last part rarely happens so maybe that was just wishful thinking. But is that really what makes a “good day?” Do things have to go according to our plans to be good? That reminds me of a funny saying which if I am being honest I am totally like this. “I am totally flexible as long as things go my way.” Sound like you too? ;) We forget that His ways are perfect, not ours. “As for God, His way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him. {2 Samuel 22:31}
Many are the plans in a person’s heart. But the purpose of the Lord will prevail. Proverbs 19:21
Dear sisters, I encourage you to let go of the idea that your life has to be all figured out. Let go of the idea that if it’s not perfect, it’s not good enough! God can use your broken. He can use you exactly how you are, where you are, at this very moment! Life can be wonderfully “perfect” just the way it is, if you trust God to lead the way, because He is the way.

Elizabeth
